The late Bonnie Cashin was an artist and designer whose work in the fields of costume and clothing design was characterized by both elegance and practicality. Her generosity of spirit was reflected in her Will, by which she left her entire estate to charity.

The Bonnie Cashin Foundation is a charitable trust created by the Executors of her Will. Its mission is to facilitate access to information regarding Ms. Cashin’s career and achievements, to promote awareness of Ms. Cashin’s contributions to and legacy within the design world, and to make donations to charitable organizations active in fostering the pursuit of creative excellence. In addition to its endowment, the Foundation holds the exclusive right to authorize the use of her name, designs, writings and illustrations, and to hold and renew registration of her name as a trademark. An important aspect of the Foundation’s mission is to reflect Ms. Cashin’s generosity, by ensuring that any commercial use of her name shall inure to the benefit of charity and support the efforts of artists.

While Ms. Cashin was primarily known for her groundbreaking work in the fields of clothing and costume design, the activities of the Foundation and its contributions shall not be restricted to these fields. Given the breadth of Ms. Cashin’s intellectual interests, and the depth of her insight into the common difficulties faced by creative artists in all fields, the Foundation shall strive to recognize and encourage creative excellence wherever it may be found.
